The Mechanical Horse Club

The club was formed on 1st March 1983 from a group of people who were preserving and restoring Scammell Mechanical Horses, and who had been exchanging notes for some time. A news sheet had been started the previous year and issued on a bi-monthly basis, and this has continued to the present day. It is now known as 'The Newsletter' and it carries the latest information of vehicle movements, spares for sale and wanted, models etc, together with features and articles as available, and often photos from the archives.

The objects of the club are:

a) to promote interest in the preservation and restoration of Mechanical Horses of all manufacturers.

b) to promote research into the history of the production and operation of Mechanical Horses.

c) to collect and preserve documents, models and photographs relating to Mechanical Horses.

d) to display vehicles and historical records, artifacts and models at public events to encourage others to take an interest in these vehicles.

We are not a big club but we're big enough to get things done, small enough to know and help each other. If you would like to join our club, you may download an application form by clicking on the link below, and saving the file on your computer, then printing it and sending the form to Tony Naylor, our Membership Secretary.
