Crescent Scammell Scarab ✅

1:50 Scale

Crescent’s Scarab models feature a clever working automatic coupling and was operated by tilting the engine cover (Patent 36085). Interesting trailer variants were available with an Esso tanker trailer between 1955 and 1959, this trailer was also available in the Shell/BP livery. Other trailer options were a dropside open wagon and a lowloader, complete with winch. Rumours exist of both an additional Esso tanker version and a London Transport tanker version being made. Crescent also issued a ‘Scammell Scarab Set’ consisting of a single tractor unit with both dropside and low loader trailers.

Casting Variation

Two widths of rear bumper casting exist on the tanker trailer.
The ends of the wider version are vulnerable and often broken off, so presumably the smaller bumper was introduced to remedy this problem.

Boxes
ll models have the same multicoloured card box depicting scenes of the variants at work
A small label added to one end of the box identifies the contents
