Richdon Scammell Scarab ✅

This 1960s model of a Scammell Scarab with drop side trailer measures about 30cm in length and is constructed from brightly coloured polythene. Incorrectly labelled on its box as a Cob (Mechanical Horse) and Trailer, this is unashamedly a toy with play value for the garden or sandpit, yet is a surprisingly realistic model despite being targeted at a very young market. The trailer has an opening tailgate and fold down jockey wheels, although the coupling to the tractor is just a simple pin which engages in a hole in a raised boss in the front chassis. The moulding detail is very good throughout; the Scammell badge, headlight, door handles, sidelights and tanks are all there. There are thirteen parts to the model including the five wheels and two metal axles. Various colour variations exist, with five different combinations of yellow, red, white, light and dark blue known.

Due to the modular construction of the toy, it is probable that other colour combinations exist.
